New Launch Time set for 4:14 am in the wee hours of the morning February 8. The astronauts were all buckled up inside when last night's launch was scrubbed due to cloud cover. The commander needs to be able to see - in the unlikely event that he should have to pilot the craft for a quick landing after takeoff. Hopefully, the visibility and other conditions will be right for the new 4:14 am launch time.

Tonight's the night! Charge your camera batteries and clear your memory cards - you'll want to be sure to bring your camera for the liftoff tonight. Also bring a wind breaker, the temperature will be about 43. The wind is gusting to 30 mph this afternoon and is expected to simmer down to around 9 mph by 4 am. Anywhere close to Titusville, Cape Canaveral, Cocoa Beach, Patrick, and Satellite Beach will be a good location to view the liftoff. I plan to be sitting on the beach enjoying the ambience - with some extra blankets and a thermos! Go Endeavor, go!

A night launch is an awesome experience! The Endeavor is scheduled to blast off at 4:39 am this Sunday morning, February 7. This is probably the last opportunity to see a night launch - well worth staying up late for or rising early to catch, whichever the case may...!

Nasa will attempt to launch The Endeavour Sunday evening at 7:13. If you are able to watch it - it should be a pretty sight. The sunset will be happening at 8:23 pm so stick around - avoid the traffic and wait for Mother Nature to entertain you afterwards. The temperature is expected to be around 85 with a 60 % chance for the shuttle to GO!

Last weeks Fireworks at Sheppard Park were absolutely beautiful! It took 2 barges to put up all the colors, many of which were new designs . The contrast of the dark night sky and the fireworks exploding next to the full moon was quite lovely. When the fireworks were over, the moon put on it's own show - illuminating the phosporus in the water and making the moon light sparkle and dance on the waves!

The Atlantis flew past KSC around Patrick Air Force Base and then up the shoreline.  Excited onlookers enjoyed watching it fly-by past the Cocoa Beach Pier then out over the Atlantic Ocean, before returning home to the Kennedy Space Center. Awesome sight!

Newsflash! The Atlantis is expected to return today around 6pm. It's a treat to watch the modified 747 flying by with the shuttle on it's back! The best place to watch is on the beach. This is a great photo opportunity, as it will fly in low just above the beachline. Remember to bring your camera!

This blog is really all about what is happening in and around Cocoa Beach and the special deals you can take advantage of. I have been posting alot of information about the shuttle missions - because there has been alot of activity lately (NASA plans to end the shuttle missions in 2010). If you haven't ever seen a launch - then you should check out Endeavour on June 13, 2009.

The 20th Annual Beach Fest continues at the Cocoa Beach Pier today. More than 500 military personell, police, firefighters and lifeguards compete in a dozen different races. Rally for America will start at 3:00 and should be awesome. Today is proving to be a good beach day (finally!) so get outside if you can and enjoy this great weather.

Congratulations are in order for the entire team of the Atlantis! The weather once again caused NASA to change it's plans from a scheduled landing at The Kennedy Space Center this morning. Edwards Air Force Base in California was chosen for the landing location and what a smooth landing it was!
