Turtle Watching is a great past time for many who visit our area... Just head for the beach around 9 pm - until about midnight or so. The nesting turtle comes up from the ocean only to lay her eggs. It is very labor intensive for her to crawl up the beach in the sand to find the perfect location to build her nest. When she is done, she will head back to the ocean and swim away. Once the eggs hatch, they head for the ocean and swim away. It is illegal to disturb the mother, the eggs or the baby hatchlings - so if you get lucky enough to see one, stay far enough away so you do not disturb them, and be quiet!
